Imagined future version of Oxford's High St. with more space devoted to bike lines, buses, and pedestrians.

Which city would you like for your children?

Or this one?

  • Buses are fast, reliable, and well used

  • Clean, healthy air

  • Many people feel safe to cycle and like to walk

  • People feel they have choices other than driving, so there is less traffic and car journeys are efficient

This city?

  • Buses get stuck behind cars, making them slow

  • Dirty, polluted air

  • People don’t feel safe, or like, cycling and walking

  • People feel they have no alternative to driving

  • There’s loads of traffic, and everyone struggles

Together, we can make a better Oxford

The population in and around Oxford is going to rise 00 by 2029.

It’s common sense that with this growth, we can’t all drive everywhere at the same times of day.

To keep our city moving 1 in 4 car journeys need to change.

We *can* do this

Some of us will always need to drive, but many more of us can swap out some journeys.

If we all do a bit, we can leave the space on the roads for people with more complex travel needs—such as disabled people or tradespeople—and those who would really struggle to change.

We all care about Oxford.
We all need to move around.
We all want changes to feel fair.

We are Oxfordshire Liveable Streets

We are residents and parents. We are teachers, nurses, and retirees. We are young and old, from Botley to Blackbird Leys.

Our vision is an Oxford where all people—those who drive and those who don’t—can move around in ways which are affordable, easy, quick, safe, and pleasant.

We want a city where buses are fast and reliable.
A city where people can be active and move more as part of their daily lives.
A city with clean air.
A city where the streets and roads look and feel nice.
