Traffic filters: What travel choices will we have in North Oxford?

  • d'Overbroeck's Hall Leckford Road Oxford, England, OX2 6HX United Kingdom (map)

The traffic filters are coming this autumn! Oxfordshire County Council is aiming to speed up the buses and improve their reliability. But how will you be affected if you live in North Oxford? Will you need to change your travel habits?

Zuhura Plummer of Oxfordshire Liveable Streets will be talking on how the plans will work, what changes are happening and why. The presentation is clear and jargon free, and will answer popular questions such as:

  • Why are these filters being introduced?

  • How will North Oxford be affected?

  • What do the passes mean in practice and how can I apply?

  • Who has exemptions?

  • And more!

The focus will be on practicality, with a big map and lots of time for questions. You'll leave knowing more about how the filters will work, understanding what they might mean for the kinds of journeys you make, and having a sense of some choices you'll have when they're in.

Carey Newson of Low Carbon Oxford North will also talk about the Oxford Car Free Challenge, a project they are running with the national climate solutions group Possible. The project has invited a group of Oxford residents who usually rely on their cars to go car free for three weeks, and share the experience for research. It will help in understanding the barriers to going car free in Oxford, as well as the benefits and the support that could make a difference.

This event is organised jointly by Oxfordshire Liveable Streets and Walton Manor Residents Association.
