Air pollution reductions 2

Transcript: Traffic filters mean healthier air in Oxford! Before: NO2 levels in Oxford’s city centre in 2019. After: Projected levels with the traffic filters. What a difference! Where will this drop come from? Increasing number of electric cars. Electric buses rolled out because of filters. Expected traffic reductions from filters. Why is this important? A 2019 study found that roadside air pollution was stunting lung growth in children by about 14% in Oxford. And that cutting air pollution by 20% would reduce the number of lung cancer cases in Oxford by 6%. NO2 modelling from the 2022 Oxford Traffic Filters Scheme Air Quality Modelling Report: https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/sites/default/files/file/roads-and-transport-connecting-oxfordshire/Oxford_Traffic_Filters_Scheme_Air_Quality_report.pdf. 2019 King’s College London report referenced in https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/18057750.air-pollution-study-reveals-health-impacts-oxford/.
